Sondheim on Sondheim - Benefit for Agapé
Please join Agapé for a matinee performance of a stunning visual and aural experience, "Sondheim on Sondheim" at the beautifully restored and intimate Hanna Theatre in Downtown Cleveland on Saturday, May 19. The show starts at 4pm and included as part of your ticket are yummy pre-show appetizers (catered by Bricco's) in the Hanna's private Salon room, 3-4 pm (just to the left off the lobby). A cash bar will be available. The Hanna Theater is located at 2067 E.14th Street, Cleveland, Ohio 44115 (between Euclid Ave. and Prospect).
This theatrical event is a regional premiere and has only been presented previously on Broadway! The Tony award-winning composer-lyricist Stephen Sondheim is featured in exclusive interview footage about a life and artistic process that has touched the world. This is accompanied by live performances of dozens of tunes from his amazing 50 year Broadway legacy, including West Side Story, Gypsy, Into the Woods, Sweeney Todd, Company, A Little Night Music, Follies and many more.
It is a multi-media, interactive event not to be missed! It was created by Ohio native James Lapine and takes you inside the mind and music of one of Broadway's greatest living composers!
The benefit is aimed to support our ministry work on local college campuses through AGAPÉ , the Lutheran-Episcopal Campus Community (LECC).
What's in the Works? - Fall 2011
Pastor Joe will be attending the Missio Conference this semester, which will explore themes and opportunities for building a faith community among young adults of ages 18-30 that integrates campus, congregation, and local community into sustainable, mutual relationships. We will examine a specific paradigm from Agapé Campus Community. We will utilize a model of the spiritual entrepreneur as a basis of creative and innovative development. This will be a time of mutual conversation as we all face the challenge of mutual spiritual relevance and sustainability in a post-postmodern world.
Oliver! Benefit for Campus Community
Please join Agapé for a night on the town with appetizers and a showing of Oliver!, the musical based on the Charles Dickens novel Oliver Twist. On Saturday, November 19th, 2011, we are invited for pre-show appetizers at Le Petit Triangle, a cozy French café in the hear of Ohio City, 1881 Fulton Avenue, Cleveland, 44113; from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. We'll partake in a variety of hors d'oeurvres, wines, and non-alcoholic beverages in their private room.
Afterwards, we'll walk over to St. Patrick's Church, 3606 Bridge Avenue (or free parking there), for a 7:30 pm performance of Oliver!, produced by the Near West Theatre. This theatre company is the work of Stephanie Morrison Hrbek, wife of Pastor George Hrbek of Lutheran Metropolitan Ministry. Oliver! tells the story of young Oliver Twist, a 19th Century orphan who runs away from his impoverished background only to join a group of boys trained to be pickpockets by Fagin. It features the songs, "Consider Yourself" and "Where is Love", and is one of the most beloved family musicals.
This evening benefit is aimed to support our ministry work on local college campuses through Agapé, the Lutheran-Episcopal Campus Community (LCCC). Directed by ELCA Pastor Joe Kovitch, Agapé ministers to those at Cleveland State University (through Trinity Episcopal Cathedral), and Case Western Reserve University (at St. Alban's Church). Through this outreach, students have learned the love of Jesus, the value of Christian peace and justice, and various expressions of worship.
The cost for this fun Fall evening is $50.00, regardless of age. To reserve, please write a check payable to "LECC". Please indicate in the memo section "__#__ tickets AGAPE BENEFIT." Please mail it, along with your return address to Agapé board member:
